Describe

Classification is the difference between "a vehicle" and "a white van seen at the gate at 22:41". VisionObject records attributes that can be observed in the picture and are useful for a search, and keeps what a model produced apart from what a reviewer wrote.

What is included

Record what can be observed about each sighting: its type, colours, tags, plate and where and when it was seen.

Observed by the platform

Attributes a model attaches to a sighting. Each can be wrong.

  • Object type

Person, car, motorcycle, bicycle, bus, truck, backpack, handbag or suitcase, with a detection confidence.

Limit: Detection quality depends on the scene, image quality, light, distance and camera angle.

  • Colours

    Optional module

Dominant colours of clothing, upper and lower, and of motor vehicles.

Limit: Colours shift with lighting and camera settings.

  • Descriptive tags

    Optional module

Up to three short tags per sighting, such as "backpack" or "uniform".

Limit: Colours shift with lighting and camera settings.

  • Plate text

    Optional module

The plate as read, a confidence value, and whether the read matched a valid format.

Limit: Not every visible plate is readable: small, distant, angled, dirty or poorly lit plates are skipped rather than guessed.

  • Scene reading

Optional moduleUses an external AI service

A short description, up to eight tags and a suggested severity, from one still frame.

Limit: A reading arrives after the sighting; it is not on the real-time alert path.

Recorded with each sighting

Facts about where and when, not about the object.

  • Camera, area and time

The camera, the area it is labelled with, and when the sighting was first and last seen.

Limit: A member sees only the cameras their organisation and their own scope allow.

  • Still frames

The clearest frame and the full scene, where a frame was captured.

Limit: VisionObject does not retain live video; the surrounding footage stays on your recorder.

Written by a reviewer

Kept apart from model output.

  • Notes, tags and status

A reviewer's notes and tags on an alert carry their name and the time, and are never mixed with model-produced tags.

Limit: An alert from a scene reading or a plate watchlist hit carries a still; an alert from a zone, line, dwell or item-left rule links to the sighting and its still; count and camera-offline alerts have none.

What is recorded

Attributes that can be observed, and nothing that cannot.

The difference between "a vehicle" and "a white van at the gate at 22:41". Each attribute comes from a model and can be wrong.

Person

  • Clothing colour, upper and lower
  • Descriptive tags, such as "backpack" or "uniform"
  • First and last seen
  • Rule events it raised: zone entry, line crossing with direction, dwell limit reached

No model here classifies demographics or emotion.

Vehicle

  • Type: car, bus, truck, motorcycle, bicycle
  • Colour
  • Plate as read, with confidence
  • Whether the read fits a valid format
  • Rule events it raised: zone entry, line crossing with direction, dwell limit reached

Speed is not measured. A bicycle has no colour and no plate.

Carried item

  • Type: backpack, handbag, suitcase
  • First and last seen
  • Left still beyond the set time, where an item-left rule fired

Limited to these three types. No colour is recorded for a carried item.

Scene reading

  • A one-line description
  • Up to eight tags, from a preferred list that the model may add to
  • Suggested severity
  • The plate as the model read it, kept apart from the plate reader's result

Optional module. A reading can be wrong.

Object type13 of 16 match
A drawing with demonstration data. No footage, plate or person is real.

Object type

Nine types are detected in each analysed frame and followed within one camera.

Only these nine types are followed. Anything else in view, such as an auto-rickshaw or a hand-cart, is named only by a scene reading.

  • Cyclist: Bicycle
  • Motorcycle carrying three people: Motorcycle
  • White car: Car
  • Blue van: Car
  • Orange truck: Truck
  • Green bus: Bus
  • Person in red with a backpack, at the main gate: Person, Backpack
  • Person in yellow with a handbag: Person, Handbag
  • Person in uniform carrying a box: Person
  • Person under an umbrella: Person
  • Suitcase by the bench: Suitcase
  • Person in red with a backpack, on the campus road: Person, Backpack
  • Person beside the hand-cart: Person

An AI scene reading is instructed to describe clothing, vehicles and behaviour only. Its text is not filtered.

Events it produces

What this capability watches for.

Each event says what it needs and where it stops. The rules you set on a camera raise these events, and the alerts that go with them.

  • Object present

A chosen kind of object is in a camera's view, such as a truck on a camera that covers a bay or a bicycle on one that covers a pedestrian area.

    When
An object of the chosen type is present in the camera's view.
    Limit
Limited to the detected object types, and to the camera's whole view: it cannot be limited to a drawn zone.
  • Vehicle counts by type

Cars, buses, trucks, motorcycles and bicycles counted for each camera, by quarter-hour, hour or day.

    When
Each followed vehicle is counted once in every period in which it is seen.
    Limit
A vehicle that leaves the view and returns is counted again, and one seen across two periods is counted in each. Vehicle types outside the detected set are counted as the nearest type or not at all. Counts cover the last 30 days.
  • Item left behind

A bag, case or stopped vehicle stays still beyond the time you set.

    When
A backpack, handbag, suitcase or vehicle stays still past the limit.
    Limit
Only the detected item types are covered, anywhere in the camera's view. A bag beside its seated owner can be reported.
  • Dwell limit reached

A person or vehicle stays in an area, such as a bay or a service point, beyond the time you set.

    When
Time inside the zone passes the limit.
    Limit
An event at the limit, not a report of how long people stay.
